From antiquity till the late 60s, the hiking trails of Naxos were the main access system from one village to another and from the villages to the fields. Today these hiking trails give visitors the opportunity to become acquainted with the natural landscape of the island and admire numerous monuments such as medieval monasteries, churches and chapels, fountains, mills etc.
